New South Wales storms declared a catastrophe

By Renee Cassidy on

Storms in NSW have now been declared a catastrophe for insurance purposes.

The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) has declared the recent storms in NSW a catastrophe event. The regions affected in particular include – Central Coast, Hunter, Greater Sydney Metropolitan and Illawara regions, all suffering widespread damage.

Now declared a catastrophe, insurers are harnessing all their resources to assist affected communities. There have already been thousands of claims lodged, with losses estimated at $129 million so far. The ICA expects more to come through in the coming days.

Our thoughts are with those that have been affected, and our dedicated claims team is at hand to assist you in any way possible for damages your property may have sustained due to these storms.

We have also compiled a handy list of After Hours Emergency Claims Assistance phone numbers for the major insurance companies which you can use if you know who your insurer is.
